Report Shows HPC Spending ‘Solid and Stable’

HPCWire reported this week that 2014 was a strong year for HPC sales across the major categories with 59% of all sites anticipating further growth during the next two years.

The finding comes from the seventh Site Budget Allocation Map from Intersect360 Research, which examines trends across academic, government and industry sites.
The report finds that hardware and staffing expenditures have leveled out. Hardware is the biggest budget item (45% of total HPC budget in 2014), while staffing is second (22%). Software accounts for 13% of the budget, and cloud computing remains a small part of the HPC spend (3%).
