"Many thanks for generating the support ticket. Billy gave me an email that documented what I have been trying to explain to people here... I cannot tell you how priceless that addition was since I advised we needed something different. Thanks for all your help!!!" -- Brian F. at NASA Glenn Research Center

Pinnacle 1A2304 - 1U Dual Processor Opteron System
Starting at $1,257.00
|
Now available with AMD 45nm "Shanghai" CPUs
Click on the configure tab to build your system with AMD's new 45nm Opteron processor.
Features and Benefits

Not all Quad-Core Opteron systems are created equal, even before the AMD quad-core processors arrived, we started working to design the perfect 1U Opteron compute server. Not all motherboards, memory and chassis were created equal, and we have tested, and then tested some more to find the best high-quality and top performing components - and when we couldn't find them we designed them ourselves.
Less known features like Dynamic Power Management (also known as split-plane power) are included in this system to provide that extra performance boost. Our chassis was designed with the flexibility to even cool the hottest components. We have added in shock mounting brackets to the hard drives and fans to prevent vibrations, which will help reduce component failures. The 1A2302 is designed and built for floating point applications, and jobs that need high memory bandwidth and low memory latency. Put the computational powerhouse to work for you.
Our knowledgeable sales and technical staff will walk you through the process of determining if this system is right for you. This includes: understanding your application, heating and cooling challenges, space requirements, software and management needs. Knowledge of your application and requirements will help us serve you better, and ensure that you get the perfect Pinnacle server.
Need pricing? Go to our configuration tab for all of your options and we'll get you pricing right away, and don't hesitate to give us a call or email. We are always glad to help!

AMD Quad-Core Opterontm
Like no other processor on the market, AMD has broken from the traditional mold of having the memory controller on the motherboard, and moved it to the processor. By doing this, memory latency has dropped and bandwidth has increased. So, if you have a job that needs big memory, high memory bandwidth, and/or low memory latency the Opteron is a smart choice. Each core has it's own independent L1 and L2 cache and a shared 2MB L3 cache. Core prefetchers can pull data directly from L1 cache to decrease latency and spares L2 bandwidth. The prefetechers intelligently predict and retrieve data needed from main memory.
Third-Generation AMD Opterontm Processor- Features and Benefits
- The low power consumption inherent in DDR2 memory when compared to other technologies helps reduce power and cooling for improved overall TCO.
- Larger memory buffers for increased throughput
- DRAM prefetcher to intelligently predict and retrieve data needed from main memory
- Core prefetchers can pull data directly from L1 cache to decrease latency and to spare L2 bandwidth
Socket F (1207) System Compatibility
- Quad-core availability in the same thermal envelopes as Second Generation AMD Opteron processors allows you to increase computing capabilities without altering data enter Infrastructure.
- Enables an easy platform transition from Dual -to Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors without sacrificing exisiting investments in hardware, software and personnel.
HyperTransporttm Technology
- Provides a scalable bandwidth interconnect between processors, I/O subsystems, and other chipsets
- Support up to 2 coherent dual HyperTransport links, providing up to 16.0GB /s peak bandwidth per processor.
- Up to 8.0GB/s bandwidth per HyperTransport link, providing sufficient bandwidth for supporting I/O and interconnect technologies including PCI-Express, InfiniBand and 10G Ethernet.
AMD Balanced Smart Cache
- Large shared L3 cache shares data between cores efficiently while helping reduce latency to main memory
- Dedicated L1 and L2 cache per core helps performance of virtualized environments and large databases by reducing cache pollution associated with a shared L2 cache.
AMD Wide Floating Point Accelerator
- 128-bit SSE floating-point capabilities enable each processor core to simultaneously execute four flops per clock (four times the floating point computations of previous AMD Opteron processors) for significantly improved performance in compute-intensive and workstation applications
