Save hundreds on the new Intel Xeon Phi 5110P with the purchase of a Pinnacle server

To celebrate the launch of the new Intel Xeon Phi 5110P coprocessor, we're offering a $300 discount on any Pinnacle server that contains this new product. This offer is available through March 15 of this year.

altIf you're looking for a high-density solution for the Xeon Phi 5110P, our new two-slot Pinnacle Flex offers a way to house the Xeon Phi in the smallest space possible. At just 0.5U wide and 2U high, up to two of these Flex servers, each containing a Xeon Phi, can fit into 2U of rack space.

We're also happy to include the Xeon Phi 5110P in other form factors as well. For details, please contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

New software updates available

Our technicians recently updated our software, specifically our yum repository and ACT_dir, to include the latest versions. Current users of our software can run 'yum install gcc_act47' and 'yum update actdir' to install these. Details are below:

GCC 4.7.2

Our yum repository has been updated with the latest version of the GNU Compiler Collection, 4.7.2. This version provides better support for the newest Intel and AMD processors than the 4.4.x version that is included with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and CentOS.

For servers using the Intel E5 Xeon processors, using the '-mavx' option will enable AVX instructions that can speed up many programs.

AMD has compiled a list of helpful compiler options at http://developer.amd.com/wordpress/media/2012/10/CompilerOptQuickRef-62004200.pdf . Please note that for users of 6300 series processors '-march=bdver2' should be used.

MPICH 3

MPICH2 has reverted back to using the name MPICH and upped the major version number to 3. The latest version of our cluster management software, ACT_dir, now includes MPICH 3.0.2. This version adds MPI-3 compatibility and includes some bug fixes.

Join us at the upcoming American Chemical Society National Meeting in April

If you're involved in computational chemistry or would just like to learn more about high performance computing in the sciences, we welcome you to join us at the American Chemical Society (ACS) National Meeting, to be held April 7-11 in New Orleans' Morial Convention Center.

This conference brings together more than 10,000 professionals in the fields of chemistry, chemical engineering, academia and technology to discuss issues relevant to network and discuss the latest research.

We will be exhibiting from April 7-9 in booth #1204. If you would like free tickets for access to the exhibitor floor, please contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
