Meet our customer: Auto Research Center
Auto Research Center (ARC) is a specialized research and development facility that sells time in its various test rigs and provides design and consultancy services to government/military, commercial vehicle, automotive and racing clientele. Two years ago, they contacted us about refreshing their high performance computing system, and our engineers worked with theirs to configure a solution that would best meet their needs.
ARC has continued to grow their cluster because they've been pleased by the results they're seeing and the support and service we've been providing. We decided to take the opportunity to highlight their experience with us by asking if they would mind being the subject of a case study. We were thrilled when they said yes!
As a result, you can now read the full case study on our website.
Bob Wellens, ARC's Vice President of Sales, says that the case study "is a great demonstration of ARC's response to staying at the cutting edge of technology to provide our customers the most efficient solution possible and keeping ARC's Elements CFD advancement pushing forward."
If you're one of our customers and would like to provide your comments about Advanced Clustering's service and products, please

Tech tip of the month: Use the command line to easily find hard drive manufacturer information
If you ever need to get your hard drive's model and serial number without physically looking at it, you can do so with the hdparm command line utility. This is especially useful if a manufacturer requires the serial number for an RMA or any other servicing needs.
In this example, we are retrieving the model and serial number of the system's first drive that is labeled /dev/sda:
$ hdparm -I /dev/sda | grep -i number
Model Number: WDC WD5000AAKX-00ERMA0
Serial Number: WD-WMC2E0607821
If you also want to see the size of all the disks in a system, you can easily view the size with:
$ fdisk -l | grep -i ^Disk
Disk /dev/sda: 500.1 GB, 500107862016 bytes
If you have questions about this utility or any of our other system tools, feel free to contact our
Conference recap: ACS's National Meeting & Exposition
The 247th American Chemical Society's National Meeting & Exposition, held last month in Dallas, was the third ACS spring conference we've attended. Every year, it's a joy meeting scientists, future scientists (aka students) and corporate representatives and discussing cluster applications in computational chemistry.
We had hundreds of people stop by our booth to check out the Pinnacle server blades we brought to give computational chemists an up-close look at the equipment that powers their jobs. We also featured our latest software tool, eQUEUE, which generated a lot of interest with a variety of users.
For more information about the ACS conferences, please click here. If you would like to know more about how our systems support computational chemistry, please
